LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Danny Hucks is a stand-up comedian based out of Louisville, Ky.
Hucks stated he always had the urge to perform stand-up comedy. However, he just needed to muster up the courage to do so. When he took the stage for the first time, he remembered the feeling was terrifying. As time went on and he gained onstage experience, he hoped those in attendance took with them laughter because he felt it was his top priority to deliver it. He hoped they enjoyed themselves too, as he forced them to feel the following: hate, love, fear, hope, sadness and cheer.
Some of Hucks favorite stand-up comedy specials and records included “On Location: George Carlin at USC” also known as “An Evening with George Carlin at USC”. It was filmed in 1977, filmed at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and was the late comedian’s first Home Box Office (HBO) special. Another favorite of Carlin specials Hucks enjoyed was “George Carlin: Doin’ It Again”. It was released in 1990. Other favorites of his included Bill Hicks’ “Rant in E-Minor” and “Relentless”.
“Kids in the Hall” is Hucks’ favorite sketch comedy show. His favorite sitcoms include: “Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, “Friends” and “Seinfeld”. His favorite comedy film is “Office Space”.
When Hucks plans to set up a comedy tour, he hopes to take with him Michael Kinberger. Kinberger is a fellow comedian from the Louisville area and Hucks considers him his best comedy buddy.
When asked if Hucks could pick five past or present comedians to roast him, he stated he would not want to get roasted. Jokingly, he stated he was too sensitive for the comedy tradition.
Other forms of comedy Hucks would like to venture off into would be improvisational comedy. His other future plans included traveling the world. He also hopes to go on a tour and record a comedy album. If all goes according to his plan and his comedy career takes off, he will leave his current job at a local liquor store.
